Leading agricultural charity RSABI has been hosting festive lunches across Scotland as part of its recent ‘Plough On’ campaign. The campaign aims to celebrate the contribution of older people to farming and crofting.

The free-to-attend lunches, which took place this month in locations including Dingwall, Duns and Angus were hugely successful with 350 farmers from across the regions attending. Aimed at those aged 65 and over, the lunches gave those in the community a chance to enjoy a delicious meal while enjoying the company of others in the agricultural community.

Carol McLaren Chief Executive at RSABI said:

“We’ve been bowled over with the positive response to our Plough On Festive lunches and we are very grateful to all the volunteers and local businesses who have helped bring these to life.

“There have been so many lovely moments during the lunches. It’s really special to celebrate our senior age people and to see them reconnecting and making new farming friends too.”

RSABI extended thanks to Karen Stewart, who helped to coordinate the festive lunches, and to all the local volunteers, the venues, businesses, and organisations who have generously provided sponsorship and support to help make the events possible.
