Following its relaunch earlier this year, Edinburgh Food & Drink Academy (EFDA) has unveiled its autumn lineup, offering interactive cooking experiences and exclusive dining events for all ages at its historic Queen Street townhouse.

From hands-on family Halloween baking workshops and week-long October break holiday camps for young chefs, to evening masterclasses and an intimate Chef’s Table event with local favourite Harajuku Kitchen, EFDA’s seasonal schedule highlights culinary creativity, local talent and practical kitchen skills.

Spooky seasonal bakes: Adult and Child Halloween Baking Workshop

Get into the Halloween spirit at EFDA with a fun-filled afternoon as a family creating spooky seasonal bakes. Designed for children aged 9-16 years old and their favourite adult, together you’ll bake a selection of treats including pumpkin spiced cupcakes, toffee apple bars and mummy sausage rolls.

The adult and child half-day Halloween Baking workshop takes place between 10am-1pm on Sunday 18 October, with tickets for two costing £150.

October week with a difference: Mini Chef’s Holiday Camp

Keep young cooks engaged during the October break with EFDA’s immersive five-day culinary camp. Designed for those aged 9-12, children will get creative in the kitchen, turn their hand to learning new recipes, and discover what life in a professional kitchen is like. Running from 10am - 3pm daily, each child will make four different dishes a day before taking home their goodies to share with family.

Inspire a love of cooking this October and sign up for the Mini Chef’s Holiday Camp at www.efda.co.uk. Running Monday 19 to Friday 23 October, the weeklong camp costs £500 per person.

Evening culinary masterclass: The Confident Cook Course

If you’re a keen cook that would like to gain confidence in the kitchen, EFDA’s five-week course is the perfect way to spend your autumnal evenings. Step into the bright lights of the professional kitchen and learn new flavours, culinary techniques, and how to plate like a pro, from the experienced and friendly teachers. What’s even better is that each week you’ll take home your creations, ready to share with loved ones or enjoy yourself in the comfort of your home.

The five-week course begins on Thursday 22 October between 6-8pm at a cost of £495, with the course taking place Thursday evening each week for the five-week duration. An Open Evening for the Professional Diploma will also take place on Wednesday 18 November at 6pm, for anyone who attends the Confident Cook course and would like to go on to pursue a career in the industry.

Indulge in autumnal flavours: Learn how to cook with game

Discover the rich flavours of Scotland’s game and master how to prepare and cook this tricky red meat alternative this October with EFDA’s ‘Cooking with Game’ one-day class. Learn how to prepare a variety of seasonal dishes, from venison and cranberry casserole, to game terrine, and Moroccan style partridge one pot stew, under the guidance of skilled chefs. Indulge in your creations with a glass of wine over lunch, before taking them home to share.

Cooking with Game will take place on Saturday 10 and Saturday 31 October between 9:45am - 3:30pm, at a cost of £225 per person.

Chef’s Table experience: An evening with Harajuku Kitchen

The team from Harajuku Kitchen will be hosting an intimate Chef’s Table event at EFDA on Friday 6 November, showcasing the incredible Japanese cuisine Executive Chef Kaori Simpson and her team are known for. Limited to just 24 guests, the immersive dining event features a curated multi-course Japanese menu, live cooking demonstrations and story-led presentation celebrating authentic Japanese gastronomy.

The Chef’s Table with Harajuku Kitchen event will take place at 7pm on Friday 6 November, with tickets costing £90.
